Transform Boxed Angel Food Cake Mix Into These Heavenly Desserts

In this installment of our cake mix series, we’ll be looking at an old-fashioned classic: angel food cake. Known as angel food cakes for their light and fluffy texture, they are typically baked with quantities of whipped egg whites; however, when cooking them from a box, no egg whites are necessary (they exist in the mix, just in powdered form). However, a great deal of whipping is still required. The finished product is comparable to the version made from scratch. Honestly, I don’t like for angel food cake, but it holds a particular place in my heart since it reminds me of my grandmother.

She is 95 years old and lives alone.

Although each recipe begins with a box of angel food cake mix (I used Betty Crocker brand), the final products are far from your grandmother’s angel food cake.

Heavenly Peaches and Cream

  3. To get medium peaks in the cream, use an electric mixer to whip it for about 2 minutes on medium speed. 1/3 of the whipped cream should be folded into the mango mixture. Gently fold in the remaining whipped cream
  4. Place 1 cake layer on a serving tray. Repeat with the remaining cake layers. Place approximately one-third of the mango mousse mixture on top. After smoothing the surface with a spatula, apply a second coat of paint. Repeat the process, stacking cake and mousse before finishing with cake. Put the dish in the refrigerator while you prepare the topping.
