Where to buy Santa Rita Medalla Real Gran Reserva Carmenere, Colchagua Valley
Vintage: 2018Tasted: January 2021 This is a combination of different carménère that Santa Rita possesses in the Colchagua Valley, ranging from old vines in Apalta to more recent vines in Marchigüe, both of which are located toward the valley’s southernmost tip. This color has a lot to do with the new carménère oil that is being produced in Chile today, which is based on the freshness of the fruits as well as the herbal notes that are unique to the variety being produced. This color is brilliant in its freshness, while also being jugoso and tenso at the same time.
This is a direct descendant of that particular wine.
Unlike in other parts of the valley, where the taninos are more abundant in arcillas, where they are soft and voluminous, here, on top of the granitos, they become harsh and austere in texture.
Vintage: 2015Tasted: January 2021 In addition to being built on volcanically derived soils that are also rich in granitos, this Marchigüe viedo is one of the most important sources of water for the Santa Rita Carmenère.
- There is a balanced madurez composed of a solid acidity and a punzant texture.
- In the mouth, the fruity and varietal side is much more noticeable, with a distinct emphasis on herbal scents and a punchy, yet fine, textural texture.
- Vintage: 2017Tasted: January 2021 This gooey chocolate carménère is made from several Colchagua grape varieties, and it has a soft, voluptuous texture with chocolate flavors and a light, refreshing taste that is perfect for cooling off on cold winter days.
- It is rather modest aromatically, with tight, fairly sinewy black fruit, tight tannins and acidity, and it has great grip.
- Colchagua Colchagua Vintage 2008Tasted: January 2010(2010) Colchagua Marchigue accounts for 85 percent of the total, with Apalta accounting for 15 percent.
- Despite the wonderful blueberry and black plum aromas, there is a nice cedary, somewhat peppery and herbal aspect to the wine that is quite pleasant to drink.
- Winemakers describe the tannins as “supple and chocolatey,” with loads of coffee and cream, and the silky spice of the wood contributing to an overall feeling of opulence.

Winemaker Notes
With a bouquet of black fruits such as black currants, blueberries, and blackberries combined with dried figs, cigar box, and spice, this wine has a deep ruby-red hue with a fragrance of black fruits. With rich tannins that are well-rounded and well-integrated, the concentrated palate provides a strong backbone that takes the wine to a lengthy and lingering finish.
Grilled meats, crimson pastas, and sharp cheeses are all good matches for this wine. 90 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 5 percent Cabernet Franc, 3 percent Carménère, and 2 percent Petite Verdot make up the blend.
Critical Acclaim
All of the Vintages TP92 Wild cherry bursts out of the glass, pleasing to the senses and bursting with vibrant color. Sweet marshmallow and burnt wood combine with lively and dependably juicy fruit and cranberry-tea tannins to create an unforgettable experience. It has a dry finish on the palate, with a hint of nutmeg and cherry vanilla, and it is a genuine charmer and a champion for Chilean wine. Wine Enthusiast (WE90) The scents of dark fruits, tobacco, and herbs that are characteristic of Maipo Cabernet are earthy and somewhat damp.

This historic property, which was founded in 1880 by Domingo Fernandez in Chile’s Maipo Valley, was one of the first in the country to cultivate European grape types, as well as the first in the world.
Under his leadership, the winery has reaped the benefits of continuous investment, resulting in a period of impressive growth, during which the winery has solidified its position as one of Chile’s most successful and innovative estates, according to Wine Spectator.
Improvements include the purchase of high-quality new vineyards, the planting of superior clones, improved trellising and irrigation, balanced viticulture (with low yields and later harvesting), individual block farming, small-lot vinification, and a greater emphasis on environmentally friendly farming practices.
- A large portion of the property is comprised of superb vineyards in some of Chile’s most prestigious appellations – including the Maipo Valley; Casablanca; Rapel; Apalta; Leyda; and Curico – providing access to a variety of climates and topography.
- It is located in the country’s Central Valley, where it is hot and dry, necessitating the usage of irrigation on a regular basis.
- Cabernet Sauvignon (the region’s most extensively planted grape type), Merlot, Syrah, and Carmenère, a Bordeaux variety that has found success in Maipo thanks to the region’s warm environment and low humidity.
- Cabernet Sauvignon is a noble grape variety that is endowed with both strength and concentration.
- It thrives in Bordeaux’s Medoc, where it is frequently blended withMerlotandsmall quantities of a mixture ofCabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, among other grapes.
It was discovered in 1997 that Cabernet Sauvignon was created by a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in the 17th century southwest France, according to the Somm Secret. Item number 530812 in NDF60635 2016.

It has a dry finish on the tongue, with a hint of nutmeg and cherry vanilla, and it is a genuine charmer and a champion of Chilean wines. Enthusiast for Fine Wines WE90 Maipo Cabernet is characterized by earthy, somewhat damp scents of black fruits, tobacco, and herbs. Through the year 2025, you can indulge yourself. To See Additional Information Santa Rita, one of Chile’s most prestigious wine estates, is distinguished by its heritage and entrepreneurialism. In Chile’s Maipo Valley, this historic property, founded in 1880 by Domingo Fernandez, was one of the first to cultivate European grape types in Chile, and it is still in operation today. Ricardo Claro, the estate’s current owner, purchased it in 1980. Under his leadership, Santa Rita Vineyards has reaped the benefits of continuous investment, which has resulted in a period of impressive growth during which the winery has solidified its position as one of Chile’s most successful and forward-thinking vineyards. One of Santa Rita’s most successful initiatives has been the introduction of the 120 Series of wines, as well as a line of ultra-premium wines, including the critically praised Casa Real and Triple C wines. Improvements include the purchase of high-quality new vineyards, the planting of superior clones, improved trellising and irrigation, balanced viticulture (with low yields and later harvesting), individual block farming, small-lot vinification, and a greater emphasis on environmentally friendly farming practices and practices. At the present time, Santa Rita sells its products in more than 70 different nations. Chile’s most prestigious appellations – the Maipo Valley, Casablanca, Rapel, Apalta, Leyda and Curico – are represented by superb vines on the property, which provides access to a variety of temperatures and landscapes. Chile’s most famous wine area is the Maipo Valley, which is located in the country’s south-central part. Because it is located in the country’s Central Valley, where the weather is hot and dry, irrigation is frequently required. Alluvial soils predominate, but loam and clay are also present in significant quantities. Cabernet Sauvignon (the region’s most extensively planted grape type), Merlot, Syrah, and Carmenère, a Bordeaux variety that has found success in Maipo thanks to the region’s warm environment. Wines made from white grapes, such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, are also in high demand, especially along the coast’s colder regions. Winemakers over the world are finding success with Cabernet Sauvignon, a noble type that is endowed with both force and concentration. The greatest examples of Cabernet Sauvignon have the ability to age gracefully for several decades. It thrives in Bordeaux’s Medoc, where it is frequently blended withMerlotandsmall quantities of a mixture ofCabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, among other varieties. “Cab” stands for Cabernet Sauvignon, and it produces some of the most acclaimed, age-worthy, and highly sought-after “cult” wines in the world, particularly in the Napa Valley. It was discovered in 1997 that Cabernet Sauvignon was created by a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in the 17th century southwest France, according to the Somm’s Secret. Carmenere, like Malbec, was formerly a prolific wine grape in the Bordeaux area of France, but it was all but extinguished by the plague of 1867, which wiped off the entire population of the region.
