Homemade Big Mac with Special Sauce – Copycat Recipe

The Big Mac at McDonald’s is something that everyone who has ever visited the restaurant has experienced. You may now make your own version of the Big Mac at your convenience! Big Mac components consist of two hamburger patties, American cheese, “special sauce” (a variation of Thousand Island dressing), iceberg lettuce, pickles, and onions, all of which are served in a sesame seed bun with three sections.

History of the Big Mac

Jim Delligatti, who owned multiple McDonald’s locations in the Pittsburgh region, is credited with inventing this world-famous hamburger. Despite the fact that not all Big Macs are created equal, this burger is offered in countries all over the world. In 1974, the jingle “Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions – on a sesame seed bun” became famous, and the company that we know and love today was born. We will not be able to forget all of the components in the Big Mac thanks to this marketing effort.

What is special about the Special Sauce?

The special sauce is actually simply a spicier version of thousand island dressing, which is what it is. It is no longer available for purchase in McDonald’s restaurants. It is currently packaged in an airtight container and dispensed by a squirting action similar to that of a chaulking pistol. You may, however, make it yourself! My own personal rendition of their “special sauce” is a reasonably accurate representation of the sauce’s taste and consistency. We really adore it, and we know you will as well.

How to Make Big Mac Burger Buns

As you may be aware, Big Macs are made up of three layers of buns. The Big Mac Burger buns from McDonald’s are simple to replicate at home. In this recipe, I use a box of hamburger buns, but we will be using part of the buns as sandwich bread in the middle. For example, if you use a package of 8 hamburger buns, you may produce around five handmade Big Macs. The top of the top bun should be cut away to make it more even, and then the bottom half should be used to construct the center piece of the Big Mac.

What You Need for a Homemade Big Mac

You might be wondering why you would want to make your own Big Mac at home rather than ordering one from the drive-thru. Here’s why. Personally, I believe that this tastes superior. In the event that you are concerned about the preservatives that may be present in fast food restaurants. Making everything from scratch, such as the handmade hamburger buns and homemade mayonnaise, ensures that you know precisely what you’re putting into your body.

Ingredients

  • Seasoned ground Chuck meat
  • Salt and pepper
  • Butter
  • American cheese
  • Minced onion
  • Pickle slices
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • Special sauce

Salt and pepper will be used to season the hamburger meat before cooking it. Form into 10 thin patties with your hands. Grill the patties until they are done to your taste. Spread butter on the cut sides of the buns and place them on the grill until they start to brown slightly. Check to see that the central bun is toasting on all sides. To assemble the burger, layer the bottom bun with the secret sauce, lettuce, cheese, onions, and one patty.

Finish with the center bun to complete the look. After that, add the sauce. The center bun is stuffed with lettuce, pickles, onion, and another patty. Finish it off with the top bun and you’re good to go.

Allow the center bun to toast on all sides by flipping it over. Begin by assembling the burger from the bottom up. The bottom bread is topped with Big Mac sauce, onions, lettuce, cheese, a hamburger patty, and the middle bun is topped with a toasted bun. To assemble, spread the Big Mac sauce over the bottom bread, followed by the onion, lettuce, hamburger patty, two or three pickle slices, and lastly the top bun.

Iceland brings back its triple burger bun so you can make a MacDonald’s Big Mac at home – The Sun

In order to allow people to reproduce a McDonald’s Big Mac at home while the country is in lockdown, Iceland has brought back its iconic triple-bun sandwich. According to the grocer, it is the ideal size for holding two burger patties, gherkins, lettuce and sauce, so why not give it a shot?

Iceland’s triple bun is only 69p for a pack of two, which is a great deal. Using brioche that has been sprinkled with sesame seeds, it is divided into three layers and baked. The buns are only 69p for a pack of two, making them quite affordable. Because brioche buns are not used in a traditional Big Mac, if you want to have an authentic experience, you might be better off purchasing regular seeded buns. It costs £1.40 to purchase a 12-pack of buns from Iceland, which comes out at 12p per bun.

Iceland has also produced a recipe to assist you in creating your very own burger sauce, which is entirely comprised of goods found in its aisles.

  • 120g mayonnaise
  • Four roughly chopped pickles
  • One tbsp yellow mustard
  • 12 teaspoon onion granules
  • 12 teaspoon garlic granules

There’s no need to drive to McDonald’s to get a Big Mac when you can create this copycat dish at home using fresh ingredients from your own kitchen. It’s SO GOOD! Who doesn’t like McDonald’s? Their french fries and burgers are two of my favorite things about them. This Is a Copier With the Big Mac from McDonald’s, you can have Micky D’s right in your own kitchen! The finest recipes are those that are based on other people’s work. In fact, they have their own section on my site, which you can find here.

  • I understand that McDonald’s gets a terrible name sometimes, but I have to tell you that while I was pregnant with my twins, the Quarter Pounder with Cheese and French Fries was my favorite meal at McDonald’s.
  • That was nothing in comparison.
  • The subject for this month’s Fantastical Food Fight, Fast Food Copy Cats, immediately drew my attention.

It’s no secret that Taco Bell is my absolute favorite fast food restaurant out of all of them!

I have a strong desire for their meals at times!

All of it revolves around that tartar sauce!

First and foremost, you must prepare that “special sauce.” You remember the one – if you grew up around the period of the McDonald’s jingle, there is no way you could have forgotten it!

A sesame seed bun with two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions is the perfect combination.

Ingredients in Copycat McDonald’s Big Mac:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, French dressing, sweet relish, dill pickle juice, sugar, dried chopped onion, ketchup, and salt
  • Whisk until well combined. For the Burgers, use lean ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Sesame seed buns, butter, shredded lettuce, dill pickles, chopped onion, and American cheese are used in the preparation of the sandwich.

For the sauce, I conducted a great deal of study. The majority of the recipes were very similar to one another. It was necessary to provide relish with each one — some of them sweet relish, some of them dill relish, and some of them both. Most of them called for vinegar, so I did a little taste testing and decided on sweet relish instead of vinegar, and I used dill pickle juice in place of the vinegar. Combine all of the ingredients and chill overnight. Please give those flavors an opportunity to become acquainted with one another.

  • You’ll need sesame seed buns, just like the song states.
  • (We used the leftovers to make garlic bread, which was delicious!) Butter them and toast them in a heated pan until golden brown, then put them aside while you finish the remainder of the recipe.
  • Despite the fact that I used extremely lean ground beef, they still shrank.
  • Do you remember Wimpy?
  • Pickles, chopped onion, and shredded lettuce will be added to the buttered or grilled bread after the sauce has been spread on it.
  • One burger is placed on the bottom bun, followed by another bottom bun on top, followed by one more burger and finally the top bun.
  • Add a side of fries (of course) and get ready to chow down.

“I’m Lovin’ It!”

Oh, one more thing, you should probably get some napkins. Preparation time: ten minutesCooking time: twenty minutes Time Added: 8 more hours Time allotted: 8 hours 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Sauce: 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons French dressing, 1 heaping tablespoon sweet relish, 3 teaspoons dill pickle juice, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon dry chopped onion, 1 teaspoon ketchup, and a pinch of salt For the burgers, combine 2 pounds lean ground beef and form 12 thin big patties
  • Season with salt and pepper
  • Assemble 12 sesame seed hamburger buns, 6 tops and 12 bottoms
  • Top with shredded lettuce, dill pickles, chopped onion, and American cheese slices
  • Serve immediately.

Instructions

  1. Sauce: 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons French dressing, 1 heaping tablespoon sweet relish, 3 teaspoons dill pickle juice, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon dry chopped onion, 1 teaspoon ketchup, and a pinch of salt. For the burgers, combine 2 pounds lean ground beef and form 12 thin big patties
  2. Season with salt and pepper
  3. Assemble 12 sesame seed hamburger buns, 6 tops and 12 bottoms
  4. Top with shredded lettuce, dill pickles, chopped onion, and slices of American cheese
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

We decoded the Big Mac: a recipe for the world’s most popular burger

Our Big Mac recipe, which includes the secret sauce, allows you to make your favorite McDonald’s burger at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 sesame seed burger buns
  • 1 1/2 cups white onion, finely chopped
  • 14 head iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
  • 400 g beef mince 2 slices of excellent cheese
  • 2 big dill pickles, finely cut
  • 2 slices of good bread

Big Mac sauce

  • 3 cups mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon gherkin relish
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • A pinch of white pepper
  • 2 tablespoons mild mustard
  • 1 12 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 12 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 12 teaspoons sweet smoked paprika (pimenton)
  • 1 cup (300g) mayonnaise
  • 1.To prepare the Big Mac sauce, combine all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl, season with salt, and set aside until ready to use. 2.To create the patties, season the mince with salt and pepper and shape into four balls, each containing approximately 1/3 cup mince. Place each on a sheet of baking paper and flatten to make four x 15cm circles with the help of a rolling pin. In a large frypan, heat the oil over high heat until shimmering. Cook beef patties in two batches for 1-2 minutes each side, turning once, until lightly browned and cooked through. Remove from the heat and cover with a towel to keep warm. Repeat the process with the remaining two patties. 3.Carefully slice each burger bun in half across the grain, then gently toast each half
  • 4. Pour some Big Mac sauce over the bottom foundation of each burger to make it easier to assemble. Add some chopped onion, shredded lettuce, a piece of cheese, a beef patty, and a few pickle slices on top to finish it off. Additional Big Mac sauce is poured on the center bread layer, which is then topped with more Big Mac sauce before adding the beef patty, lettuce and pickles, and finishing with more Big Mac sauce. To serve, place the burger cover on top. 5.After you’ve waited half an hour for your food to settle, go for a jog around the block.

How to (Basically) Get a Big Mac for $2 Less Than the Menu Price

Cole Saladino of Thrillist contributed to this report. The center bun of a Big Mac from McDonald’s is completely ineffective. Even troubling, to be honest. It creates an unnecessarily large gap between the two chunks of McMeat, who are unquestionably the stars of the show, and, frankly, it’s simply too much bread for one meal. However, any savvy buyer would be justified in feeling a pang of wrath after reading this odd Reddit post, which outlines how to acquire what amounts to an almost identical Big Mac for $2 less than the menu price.

This hacked sandwich is devoid of a clunky center bun. Yes, individuals. We’re shelling out a whopping $2 (and often more) just for the center bun on our Big Macs. Oh, and those sesame seeds, I’m guessing as well. Cole Saladino of Thrillist contributed to this report.

Here’s how to hack the Big Mac

You know, just in case you were too lazy to go on the Reddit thread I linked to.

  • Order a McDouble in a calm manner
  • Please inform the staff that you would like Big Mac SauceTM instead of ketchup or mustard (yes, this is possible)
  • Inform them that you desire lettuce. Maintain your composure.

  • To make the Big Mac sauce, combine all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl, season with salt, and set aside until needed. To create the patties, season the mince with salt and pepper and divide it into four equal portions, each containing approximately 1/3 cup mince. Place each on a sheet of baking paper and flatten to make four x 15cm circles with the help of a rolling pin. In a large frypan, heat the oil over high heat until shimmering. Cook beef patties in two batches for 1-2 minutes each side, turning once, until lightly browned and cooked through. Remove from the heat and cover with a towel to keep warm. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the popular Big Mac, we’re dishing out seven little-known facts about the McDonald’s heavyweight. It seems like the perfect moment to commemorate the 50th anniversary of McDonald’s most iconic burger — that towering culinary marvel that serves as proof to the notion that nothing can match American fast food inventiveness, or hunger — as we approach the 50th anniversary of the Big Mac. On a sesame seed bun: “Two all-beef patties, house special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, and a side of fries!” Of course, everyone knows what Burger King’s jingle sounds like, but do you know everything there is to know about America’s favorite hamburger?

It was invented by a frustrated franchisee.

The Big Mac was invented in 1967 in a McDonald’s restaurant in Uniontown, Pennsylvania (one year before its official birthday). According to Adweek, franchisee Jim Delligatti came up with the now-famous sandwich after becoming frustrated with his business. His primary clients were men who worked in the neighboring steel mills and had enormous appetites, but all he had to give them was a standard cheeseburger.

As a result, he decided to experiment with a monsterburger, which consisted of two beef patties, which were supported by a middle bun, and which were topped with lettuce, pickles, onions, and a “special sauce.”

It almost had another name.

Delligatti had originally intended to call his sandwich invention the “Big Mc,” but the name didn’t quite slide off the tongue, so he settled on “Big Mac” as a substitute. Phew!

Two quarters were all you needed.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, an advertising for the Big Mac appeared in a local Pittsburgh-area newspaper, and they were able to obtain a copy. “Starting on Saturday, April 22, 1967, the show will be on the air. New! Big Mac is the name of the game. Made with two freshly ground patties, tangy melted cheese, crisp lettuce, pickles, and our own Special Sauce, this burger is sure to satisfy. It costs only 45 cents.” Exactly, you read that correctly: 45 cents! When compared to the modern-day Big Mac, which costs $4, this is a bargain.

By 1969, the Big Mac was accounting for a sizable portion of McDonald’s income, accounting for 19 percent. According to Adweek, Americans consume 550 million Big Macs every year, which equates to little more than 17 Big Macs consumed every second of every day.

It’s a seedy business.

The typical Big Mac is sprinkled with 400 sesame seeds, which contributes to the popular burger’s distinctive appearance.

It’s all about the buns, hun.

Big Mac buns are available in three-packs. The center bun, referred to as the “club bun,” serves to hold the meat patties in place while also contributing to the burger’s trademark height.

  • 3.2 ounces boneless beef short ribs that have been well cooled
  • 1/4 cup finely minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon onion shredded on a microplane grater
  • 1/4 cup finely minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup finely minced scallions 1.5 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1.5 teaspoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon marmite, vegemite, or Maggi flavor
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sweet pickle relish 1 egg white
  • 1/4 teaspoon powdered turmeric
  • 1 egg yolk 1 Wonderbread brand hamburger bun, plus 1 bottom bun
  • 1 Wonderbread brand hamburger bun
  • 1 slice American cheese
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (about 600)
  • 1/4 cup shredded iceberg lettuce

  1. Two times through a meat grinder fitted with a 1/4-inch plate, put the beef through. Form into two even balls and flatten into 4-inch patties with damp palms on a cutting board, using a cutting board as a guideline. Patties should be scraped up with a narrow spatula and placed on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Put the ingredients in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use them
  2. Using a double layer of paper towels on a microwave-safe dish, dry the chopped onion on low power for 10 minutes, or until largely dehydrated but not browned, until mostly dehydrated but not browned. Set away. While the onion is drying, combine the shredded onion, mayonnaise, relish, mustard, sugar, Marmite, and turmeric in a large mixing bowl until well combined. Stir everything together and set it aside until you’re ready to use it. Preheat the toaster oven or broiler to its highest setting. Spread a very thin coating of egg white over the top of the top bun with one finger, then repeat with the other finger. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and broil for 30 seconds or until the sesame seeds are toasted. Make a mental note to put it away. Slice away from the very bottom of the bottom bun half to form a single circular piece of bread with cut surfaces on both sides
  3. Toast cut sides of top bun and bottom bun, as well as one side of center bun piece under the broiler until light golden brown
  4. Remove from the broiler and set aside. Place the bottom bun and the middle bun on a cutting board and toast them on one side. Half of the sauce should be spread on each. Make a uniform layer of dried onions on both the bottom and middle buns, then top with lettuce. Place 2 pickle slices on each of the 4 plates. Season the burger patties with salt and pepper before grilling. Over high heat, lightly brown the bottom of a heavy-bottomed 10-inch stainless steel or cast iron skillet until it is barely smoking. Cook the patties without moving them for approximately 1 minute, or until the first side is crusty and golden brown. Patties should be scraped up with a firm spatula before being flipped. One piece of cheese should be placed on top of each burger. Continue to heat for about 1 minute more, or until the chicken is cooked through. Transfer the patty with cheese on top to the bottom bread and the patty without cheese to the middle bun. Place the top bun on top of the center bun, and then stack the center bun on top of the bottom bun to finish. Serve as soon as possible
