Handling
Prepare and serve within 48 hours of purchase, or store in the freezer for up to 5 months.
Allow for 1-1/2 to 2 hours of thawing time at room temperature with the lid closed. We do not recommend storing Pretzilla in the refrigerator since it might cause it to dry out.
Warming
Preheat on a baking sheet for 3 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. If the buns and bits are frozen, allow them to defrost before reheating.
Toasting
In a broiler, place the buns cut side up on a baking sheet and broil until golden brown. 45 to 60 seconds at a distance of 3 to 4 inches from the heat source. On the stovetop: Place the buns in a pan with the sliced sides facing up. Toast for 45 to 60 seconds on a medium heat setting. On a grill, place the buns cut side down on the grid. Toast for 30 to 60 seconds on medium heat with the lid closed on a stovetop.
Salting
Using water, lightly wet the paper. Pretzel salt (included) should be sprinkled on right away. If you’re reheating anything in the oven, season it with salt first.

- The Pretzel Buns have finished baking. Because we meticulously package these gourmet buns separately, you may enjoy their full sweetness one piece at a time without having to do any more baking. When you’re ready, take the burger buns from their packing and let them to defrost at room temperature for at least 15-30 minutes. If you want a truly gourmet experience, bake it in the oven or toaster oven at 375 – 400° F for 4 – 5 minutes, or until it is crispy on the exterior and fluffy on the inside, according on your preference. For a rapid preparation, simply toast the two halves on the “light” setting in a toaster oven. You may check for crispness by pushing your finger on the crust

Stuffed Rye Pretzel Buns

To firm up the buns and make them easier to dip into the water bath, chill them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or in the freezer for 15 minutes after they’ve been resting (but you may skip chilling the buns if you’re in a rush). The cheese sauce should be made ahead of time and kept at room temperature while the buns are cooling. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. To complete and bake the buns, follow these steps: In a shallow dish or pan, combine the boiling water with the baking soda, stirring to dissolve the baking soda as much as possible. This is the water bath. Allow to cool until you’re ready to dip the buns in the sauce. Allow for approximately 30 seconds of soaking time after placing the buns in the water bath. Remove the buns from the oven and place them back on the baking sheet after allowing any extra water to drain off. Fill each bun’s depression with a tablespoon of the filling and press down firmly. Add a heaping spoonful of the cheese sauce to the top of each serving. Alternatively, coarse kosher or pretzel salt can be sprinkled on the exposed edges of the buns if preferred. Bake the stuffed buns for 18 to 22 minutes, or until they are thoroughly browned on the bottom and top. Remove them from the oven and set them aside to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving them warm. Fresh herbs or a more creative variant on the filling that’s inside the buns (for example, a thin slice of tomato) can be used to garnish the buns. - They can also be frozen for extended storage. Before serving, reheat the filled buns in a 350°F oven for about 10 minutes until warm.
